Carmel’s Rich History

The Carmel Heritage Society has provided the community with a variety of historic gifts. Funding and awards for history education, a format for the preservation and sharing of important historical information, annual house and inns tour and the preservation of buildings have all played an important part in holding on to the relevant historical information and structures for future generations to enjoy. Become a partner with us in preserving and protecting Carmel’s historic legacy. The Carmel Heritage Society is an independent non-profit organization. We operate the historic First Murphy House at Lincoln and Sixth as a community welcome center, and source of local information and exhibition space. We also offer a permanent and continually expanding Arts & Crafts reference library and annual lectures, tours and special events. Our members enjoy discounts on event tickets, as well as on products in the shop. Our mission is to “preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Carmel” and to foster an appreciation of this tradition. We invite you to become a member of the Carmel Heritage Society and help accomplish its mission for the education and enjoyment of all residents, visitors, and future generations.
