Scenic. The famous architect designed both the house,
built in 1948 of Carmel chalrock, and the furniture.
It sits on the edge of the beach with the Pacific Ocean
as a front yard. |
The
First Murphy House
NW corner of Lincoln and 6th.
The house was constructed in 1902 by 17 year old Michael
J. Murphy. He had a
significant influence on the character and architecture
of the village of Carmel during his career.
Light refreshments will be served
from 2:30PM-5:00PM
at the First Murphy House.

Harmony House
Dolores
and 2nd. Built in 1923 by Hazel Watrous andDene
Denny, founders of many of Carmel's musical and artistic
activies, including the Carmel Bach Festival (taking
place this year from July 17 - August 1), the house is
an integral part of Carmel's cultural heritage.

Forge
in the Forest

Pescadero. Believed to be built in 1926, on a lot
purchased for the "sum of Ten dollars in gold coin," the
main house was home of Carmel's famed "Blacksmith Mayor"
John C. Catlin. |
The
Door House
24814 Pescadero. Originally built in 1906 of 34
solid four-panel doors salvaged after the San Francisco
earthquake. Moved to its current location on the
grounds of Forge in the Forest in 1009 and restored. |

Spare House

Valley View. The present owners have remodeled
this cottage, built in 1925, to resemble the 18th
century New England and Cape Cod houses they know and
admire. |
Beardsley House
8th and Casanova. The George and Alice Beardsley
House was built, by M.J. Muprhy, in 1909 and this year
celebrates its 100th year. George Beardsley was on
the first Carmel city council and current owner Ken was
mayor of Carmel from 1992 to 2000. Ken and Jean
White are now the 3rd generation in the family to live
in the house.
Hatton House
25100 Hatton. An unassuming house built in the
1960s was transformed by the current owners to reflect
their appreciation of the rich heritage of the Arts and
Crafts movement.
Pied
a Terre
Dolores & 2nd. Built in 1924 by Hazel Watrous as
an original "mother's cottage" this cute Carmel cottage
has many original features.
Le
Papillon garden
25091 Hatton. This once catepillar of a yard has
flourished into a beautiful blooming butterfly.
